Editorial Policy
EatsKarachi is an independent restaurant directory and guide for Karachi, Pakistan. This policy explains the principles that govern how we add, verify, rank, and update listings — and what you can expect from our editorial team.
1. Independence & Commercial Relationships
EatsKarachi’s restaurant listings and rankings are entirely independent of advertising. We do not accept payment to:
- Include a restaurant in our directory
- Rank a restaurant higher than it would otherwise appear
- Feature a restaurant in a “Best Of” or curated list
- Write a positive review or suppress a negative finding
Where commercial relationships exist (e.g., a restaurant that purchases a “Deals” listing), these are clearly marked with a “Sponsored” or “Featured” label. Organic directory rankings are never affected by these arrangements.
2. Restaurant Selection Criteria
To be considered for inclusion in EatsKarachi, a restaurant must meet all of the following:
Currently operating — Confirmed open within the past 90 days via our team, a community report, or direct contact.
Located in a covered neighborhood — Currently: DHA, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Gulberg, PECHS, Bahria Town, Tariq Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Civil Lines, Burns Road, SMCHS.
Verifiable public reputation — Has a minimum of 50 Google reviews or is a well-known local institution (e.g., a decades-old dhaba).
Original information available — We can write an original description based on our own knowledge, a visit, or a reader report — not just a copy of the restaurant’s own marketing text.
3. How We Rank Restaurants
Our rankings within area and cuisine pages are based on a composite score that considers:
⭐ Aggregate Rating
Weighted average of Google Maps ratings, cross-referenced with other platforms where available.
💰 Value for Money
We assess price-to-quality ratio in PKR. A highly-rated budget spot may rank above an average-rated fine dining establishment.
🔄 Recency
More recently verified listings are weighted slightly higher. A restaurant’s rating from 2024 is more reliable than one from 2020.
🍽️ Cuisine Authenticity
For cuisine-specific pages, we weight how authentic a restaurant is to that cuisine (e.g., a dedicated nihari house vs. a multi-cuisine restaurant that also serves nihari).
4. Data Accuracy & Update Schedule
| Data Type | Update Frequency | Method |
|---|---|---|

| Menu Prices | Quarterly | Physical menu check or owner contact |
| Phone Numbers | Semi-annually | Call verification |
| Ratings | Monthly | Aggregated from Google Maps |
| Opening Hours | Quarterly | Owner verification or field check |
5. Corrections & Removals

6. User-Generated Content

7. AI & Technology Use
EatsKarachi uses technology to help organize and structure restaurant data. However, all editorial content — descriptions, area insights, and curated lists — is written, reviewed, and approved by human members of our editorial team. We do not publish AI-generated reviews or descriptions without human editorial oversight and fact-checking against primary sources.
